What a weekend (4/5, 4/6 and 4/7/2013) of events that is happening for Lake City FL.
The rain came in yesterday and this morning early and now it has left us with
great weather for the weekend. That is wonderful, because Lake City is having
several things happen.
1. MADDfest starts tonight Friday, 4/5/13 at the Columbia County School Board Auditorium, with the Shining Star Talent Search. This will start at 7 and the charge is $5.
Then on Saturday and Sunday (4/6 and 4/7/2013) the Fest will move to the Shining
Stars Academy, located on Hwy 90 Between Lake City and Wellborn.
The event on Saturday and Sunday is free to the public and will offer continuous live
entertainment. On Saturday it starts at 10am and goes into the night and on
Sunday, it starts at 10am and goes throughout the day.
2. Florida Gateway College will be having the Cirque Ziva performing for two shows on Saturday, 4/6/13. The first show starts at 3pm and the second show starts at 7:30. General Admission is $15 and you can find out more, by visiting www.fgcentertainment.com .
3. The Southside Sports Complex will be hosting one of the largest Baseball Tournaments that has happen in Lake City, this weekend. They have schedule approx. 93 teams that will be playing in this event on Saturday and on Sunday. They are having so many teams that they will have to use other local ballparks in the county, like the
Columbia High School’s fields. I believe that must of the action will be at the
If you are a local, you might want to not travel that way, if there is another way, because of all the traffic. Also, the hotels and restaurants should be every busy.
4. The Justin Case Band will be performing at the Spirit of The Suwannee Music Park on Friday and Saturday nights, starting at 8pm. If you like the Country Music, be sure to
check this guys out. They are a up and coming band, with some local performers.
Looking ahead to next weekend, on Saturday 4/13/13, Columbia County will be holding their Toxic Roundup. If you have household paint, batteries, oil, medicine and so on, you can bring them to the Columbia County Fairgrounds in a container, labeled and they will take them off your hands for free. They ask that you bring everything in a container and that it is labeled. If you are unsure what it is, just have it labeled unknown.
